Despite the wet weather, the 2018 MHC BBQ took place on September 8 at Paradise Stables, LLC in Mt. Airy without a hitch! The facility, featuring a large B&D Builders barn, was the perfect setting for an indoor BBQ with vendors, guests, the band, food and silent auction having plenty of space within the main barn aisle. Guests sat under the front overhang eating great food from Guapos, listening to the Surf Jaguars and taking in the beautiful Frederick County landscape.
The Frida Icelandic Riding Club demonstrations were a big hit with many spectators lining the indoor arena to watch, asking questions and learning about this unique breed with their famous tolt.
The silent auction, which raised funds for METS this year, generated nearly $1000 with some fairly competitive bidding going on! Seems the “hot ticket” items were the VIP tickets to the Maryland Million and Washington International Horse Show. A huge THANK YOU to all those who donated and purchased items, to our sponsors, the vendors, and our gracious hosts, Elizabeth Tate and Wayne Kitzmiller!
Stay tuned for information about next year's event.
