We have great news to share! New legislation sponsored by Senator Middleton, Delegate Gaines, the Maryland delegation of the Chesapeake Bay Commission, and other key legislators would establish a Program Open Space “Trust Fund.” The Program Open Space Trust Fund Act of 2016 (SB 927 and HB 1464) also moves to fully fund Program Open Space after years of raiding, and provide a repayment plan for recent diversions.
And a recent poll shows 87% of Maryland voters support Program Open Space, and 73% support the Act. You can read more about the poll here.
We'll be advocating for The Program Open Space Trust Fund Act, and we need your help! Here's what you can do:
1) Tell Maryland legislators to support The Program Open Space Trust Fund Act (SB 927 and HB 1464). This is our chance to protect the places that make Maryland beautiful. #StopRaiding Program Open Space.
2) A hearing before the House Appropriations Committee will be held on February 23, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. It's very important that you contact the members of the Appropriations committee, especially if they are your representative.
3) Sign our petition now. Please share the petition on social media and help us keep the signatures coming in!
