user-friendly information to the Maryland horse farm owners on
benefits available for good land stewardship and regulations
related to the Chesapeake Bay

a base line on how our horse farms are doing in contributing to
improving land use management and reaching or exceeding
regulatory requirements
· Identify
obstacles to reaching the goal of 100% of Maryland horse farms
to be Chesapeake-Bay friendly
· Explore
new technologies for manure management and provide horse farm
owners with the information, including possible sources of
financing
· Assist
horse farm owners to reach their land stewardship goals though
providing user-friendly information, community support, access
to information on financing and other incentives
· Celebrate
the success of farms in meeting and exceeding county, state and
federal environmental standards

Produce
a video tour of a Maryland horse farm with excellent land
stewardship practices for posting on the Maryland Horse Council
web site

Collect
available data on what percentage of horse farms have reached or
exceeded environmental requirements to be Chesapeake-Bay
friendly
·
Survey
horse farm owners to identify obstacles to reaching
environmental goals
·
Draft comments on the Maryland Department of
Agriculture's proposed changes to its Nutrient Management
Regulations
